Figuring out a cover for my book, Fear, Some, was daunting. For the front cover image, I decided to play with the idea of “The Poisonous Coon” that starts the book and reappears slightly remixed in the final poem. The typography prepares the reader for some of the type treatments in the book. Throwing the barcode in front foregrounds the anxiety of objectification and commerce that pokes up in many of the poems. It also looks cool.
